Volusia County Good News Club® Volunteers 

Fingerprinting Requirements

Volusia County Schools require fingerprinting (see links below) because GNC® volunteers will be alone with VCS students (on campus) at the end of the school day, The fees are established by the FDLE with an initial cost for year one at $41.25.  After one year, there is a retention fee of $6 and after five years the prints are recertified at a cost of $11.25.

FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO PAY FOR AND SET UP YOUR FIRST FINGERPRINTING APPOINTMENT (scroll down further for renewals):

1. You must first pay for the fingerprinting prior to scheduling an appointment. Here is the correct link.  Click HERE

  • Go to the link above

  • Select V-District Community Shopping Cart and select "go"

  • Scroll down to bottom of screen and add this section to cart: 

Volunteer Fingerprinting Fee - This fee is paid to the FDLE VECHS Program. Approval to serve as an overnight chaperone and/or band adjunct. Valid for one year.  $41.25

  • Scroll back up to "checkout", continue and follow the prompts to make you payment.

  • WRITE YOU PAYMENT ORDER NUMBER DOWN as you will need this when making your appointment.

2. An appointment is required to be fingerprinted. Walk-ins are not accepted. Once the fee has been paid, schedule your appointment.    Click HERE for the link.

3. Fingerprints are collected by the Human Resources Department at the district’s DeLand Administrative Complex, 200 N. Clara Avenue, DeLand.

Bring two forms of identification to your fingerprinting appointment.  At least one must be a valid government-issued photo ID. The name and date on both forms of identification must match exactly what was provided for the appointment.

RENEWING  ANNUALLY AFTER YOUR INITIAL FINGERPRINTING

Keep track of your fingerprint date and

watch for an email from VCS to renew annually; follow the instructions in the email.. 

If your fingerprints are up for annual renewal and you haven't received your emailclick HERE

Under "Choose School" select "V-District Community Shopping Cart" and "GO"

then scroll to the bottom and select the item for annual renewal.

THE ITEM TO "ADD TO YOUR CART" SHOULD READ:

Volunteer Fingerprinting Renewal Fee - This fee is paid to the FDLE VECHS Program.

Approval to serve as an overnight chaperone and/or band adjunct. Valid for one year. $6.00

Once you have clicked "add to cart" on this item, scroll back to the top to checkout. Pay for your renewal ($6.00) complete the steps and submit.

EXCERPT FROM VSC FAQ:

How will I know when to renew?

Approved overnight chaperones, band adjuncts, and/or Good News Club volunteers will be notified via the email account associated with their volunteer application at least 30 days prior to expiration. Fingerprinting only needs to be done once, unless the approved status has expired. If the overnight chaperone/band adjunct/Good News Club volunteer allows the approval to expire and wants to continue as an approved overnight chaperone/band adjunct/Good News Club volunteer, the applicant will need to be re-fingerprinted and pay the initial cost of $41.25
